One of the greatest downsides of the free google Analytics service is the lack of the full referring source.
You cannot track the exact page of which forum thread is linking to your website, because under the referring site report, cross segment performance, content report, it truncates the URL at the end of the filename, so you end up with items like:
/forums/showthread.php
/forums/viewtopic.php
etc.
Reuben Yau found a great hack to pass this.
1) Make sure you place the standard tracking code in the HEAD section of the page, rather than right before the end BODY tag that it usually recommends.
2) Use this body tag:
